FIM MotoGP Award 2014

The last MotoGP race took place on 9th November 2014 in Valencia and the season officially closed with the FIM MotoGP Award Ceremony on Sunday evening which took place in the Palacio de congresos in Valencia.

All the protagonists of this season were present to assist to the ceremony and, for some of them, to receive their awards. The lovely Izaskun Ruiz and the great Gavin Emmett were the host of the event and awarded pilots in Moto 3, Moto 2, and MotoGP categories.

Mr. Vito Ippolito (FIM President) opened officially the ceremony and started by congratulating all the actors of the season and explained how this year was moving because the game had to be played until the last race for Moto 3 category to proclaim the winner.

A lot of pilots were awarded for different prices that are exposed below:

Moto3:

Best pilot in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup: Jorge Martín Joan Mir

Rookie of the Year trophy: Enea Bastiani (Junior Team GO&FUN)

Pole of Poles Award (Tissot Trophy): This award is attributed to the pilots who made the most pole position in the season. For the Moto3 category it is Jack Miller who made the most pole position with 8 poles.

Best Moto 3 Constructor: Mr. Sebastien Risse (head of KTM factory road racing) received this award for KTM that won for the 3rd time this award in Moto 3.

3rd Alex Rins 2nd Jack Miller 1st Alex Marquez

Moto 2:

Best Beginner: Maverick Viñales

Pole of Poles Award (Tissot Trophy): Tito Rabat who made 11 poles position.

Best constructor Moto 2: Kalex was declared the best constructor and Mr. Alexander Boumgaertel (Kalex CEO) received the price.

Moto 2 Best Pilots:

3rd Maverick Viñales 2nd Mika Kallio 1st Tito Rabat who made 14 podiums, 11 pole position and also made a record with the most points in Moto 2 category. During the ceremony he wished to say thank you to all his team for this great season and job.

MotoGP

Best circuit in 2014: Hervé Poncharal, IRTA President attributed this award to Mr. Jarrod Krisiloff, Senior Director of Marketing IMS of Indianapolis Circuit.

MotoGP Rookie of the year: Kate Fretti gave a special trophy to Pol Espargaro who won the title of MotoGP Rookie of the Year. This trophy was made by Sepang’s circuit in the memory of Marco Simoncelli.

Pole of Poles Award (Tissot Trophy): Marc Marquez won this award because he made 13 pole positions this season.

BMW Award: Marc Marquez won a BMW M4 Coupé. The “key” where delivered by Dr. Friedrich Nitschke, BMW M GmbH President. Best constructor in MotoGP: Mr. Yoshishige Nomura (HRC President) received the price for the Best Constructor in MotoGP 2014 for HRC. Best winning team: With 14 victories, 24 podiums, the Honda Repsol Team of Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa won the price which has been received by Mrs. BeatrizTtobio, Respol Chief of Sponsoring.

Best pilot in the open category 2014: Aleix Espargaro

The Ceremony closed with the inevitable MotoGP Trophy: when the winner of the competition hooks the piece of trophy up.

Marc Marquez had the honour to do it for the second time in MotoGP category, joined by the President of FIM Mr. Vito Ippolito, the CEO of Dorna Mr. Carmelo Ezpeleta and Mr. Alberto Fabra, President of the Generalitat Valenciana.

2014 is just over and 2015 is just around the corner... Days after the ceremony, pilots have already tested new prototypes in Valencia.
