Retrospective on the Geneva Motor Show 2014
The Geneva Motor Show 2014 closed its doors more than one week ago. In only 10 days, the show welcomed more than 670’000 visitors and half of them came from abroad.
This event is always a preview of the world premieres. This year, there were 105 world premieres and 41 European premieres from the ones the Lamborghini Huracán as world premiere. With 4 drive wheels and 610 horsepower this supercar can go from 0 to 100 km/hr in 3.2 seconds. This car was inspired by the Aventador LP 700-4 and Sesto Elemento and has same 5.2-liter’s motor as V10 Gallardo. Its price? You must count more than 200,000 Euros.
In the same sportive category there is the McLaren 650S. McLaren always use sophisticated names for its cars but it is a tasty choice. 650 means the horsepower and “S” for “Sport”. This « orange flame » goes from 0 to 100 km/hr in 3 seconds only and can go until 333 km/hr. A sportive power and aggressive lines Its consumption? 11.7 liters/100 km. Power has a price…
In the premieres there also are the Honda Civic TypeR, Mii by Mango, Peugeot 108 or even the Volvo Ocean Race.
Like last year, the manufacturers pay attention to eco-friendly cars. An interesting innovation concerns the NanoFlowcell Firm. The full car is not made by putting the battery on charge but it works with a system of eletrolyte, you just have to fill in putting eletrolyte vessel installation. For now it is just an idea, because there are no points to recharge the car in this way.
This year the Geneva Morot Show honoured a particular place with a special exhibition. 20 cars were exhibited that have wrote the story of the 24 of Le Mans, the famous circuit that every year welcomes a lot of cars and bikes races.
Finally, like every year, the title of the Car Of The Year is attributed to the Peugot 308. In this category, points are awarded on innovation, safety, design and quality.
What is going to happen in 2015? We are going to know it in one year, but for now, let’s enjoy these premiers for 2014.
