Geneva motor show 2013: from luxury to green
The 83rd Geneva motor show opened its doors from 7th to 17th March 2013.
Despite the crisis, about 690’000 persons visited the show (but less than last year). 130 new models of cars in word « avant première » was presented but also, this year, the show wants to be « green ».
In fact, about 10% of the cars presented are alternative energy and consume less than 100g/km of CO2.
Volkswagen knows how to use this new trend with the XL1 which consumes less than 1l/100km. Volskwagen Group doesn’t let Audi « in » at all with the A3 e-tron model. This car has the distinction of having three driving modes: standard, electronical and hybrid.
Luxuous cars are bright for their presence. At the occasion of it 50th anniversary, Lamborghini made a big « hit » with the Veneno; a coupé which costs 3 million of euro. Only 3 models have been made and they were sold before the Geneva Motor Show opened its doors.
In the same category, Ferrari with the limited edition of LaFerrari made for sure a car which every fan dreams to drive.
Red, aggressive look, powerful. This car has 963 horsepower and goes from 0 to 300 km / hr in 15 seconds. The firm of Maranello has produced 499 copies and this jewelry costs more than EUR 1 million.
Alfa Romeo with its 4C model seeks to attract an audience more closely than models that we already know. In fact, the model of 4C, limited to a fabrication of 3,500 specimens is for sale by a minimum of € 50,000. Its peculiarity? It was made of low carbon fibers derivative of Technology used in Formula 1. With 240 horsepower associated with a dual clutch transmission Alfa TCT, the speed of this car can go over 250 km and go from 0 to 100 km/hr in 4.5 seconds. For the lucky person who will buy this car, Alfa Romeo offers a session to pilot this car.
In the category « for every day » the cars to see are for sure the new Chinese brand that we will hear about it for a long: Qoros. With the car at affordable price (from € 15,000) this young brand wanted to focus on the cars of the quality, safety, design, and has tried to answer to the expectations of most customers and the urban way of life.
Other new models to see for fans of MotoGP: the Adam Opel named like the founder of the brand. Opel has made the buzz before presentation to the Geneva Motor Show with its Adam. In fact, the marketing strategy is very ambitious because they choose the multi MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi as ambassador of the brand. Beautiful, comfortable, small and functional, the highlight of this car is that you have many ways to make it unique by choosing the different options to customize it.
At least, we can’t talk about the Geneva Motor Show without talking about the “Car of the Year 2013” award won by Volkswagen for the Golf 7 model.
